SYNOPSIS:
In 1989, Taiwan saw rapid economic development following political reforms. Eleven-year-old Liao Jie’s dream is for his nice-guy father to own a home. When he befriends his landlord, a Machiavellian businessman nicknamed Old Fox, the boy learns lessons that will change his life’s trajectory.
Produced by legendary filmmaker Hou Hsiao-hsien, Old Fox is a thought-provoking morality tale about choosing between self-preservation and benevolence. This winner of four Golden Horse Awards — including Best Director and Best Supporting Actor (for Akio Chen) – also features a fantastic performance by Bai Run-yin, the best young actor currently working in the Taiwanese film industry.
