Written, directed, and cinematography by Taoist scholar Xu Haofeng, with four Hong Kong movies under his belt, he teamed up with co-director Xu Junfeng to tell a story during the 1920s in northern China. The son of a martial arts master and his most talented apprentice fight to take over a prominent martial arts academy. But rather than obey the rule of settling disputes behind closed doors, they take their fight to the street.
The film stars Jacky Heung, Andy On, Bea Hayden Kuo, Tang Shiyi, Li Yuan. The action-drama will be presented in Mandarin with English subtitles and will be distributed in the U.S.A. by Well Go USA Entertainment.
The film had its international premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, the festival programmer said 100 YARDS “features slingshot gangs, secret scrolls, eccentric weapons, and a touch of whimsical romantic melodrama, 100 Yards is a stylish martial arts caper, simultaneously stoic and playfully funny in its coolly composed yet thrillingly percussive execution.”
Film critics agree:
“Bound to appeal to all martial arts film lovers.” – Asian Movie Pulse
