SYNOPSIS:
In Korean, the word “mimang” has multiple meanings. This triptych — all shot on location in the historical Jongno District of Seoul — presents three parts of a story that span an unspecified timeline. Each section reflects the different meanings for “mimang”.
Shot over four years, director Kim Tae-yang captures the transformations of both people and places in this enigmatic, but quietly captivating drama. As the unnamed characters occupy Jongno’s streets, an old cinema and a dingy old-school bar, the film uses the changing landscapes of a modern metropolis to reflect on time’s effect on human relationships and memories.
