SYNOPSIS:
During the COVID pandemic, Shinsaku leaves Tokyo and moves to a rural town in northeastern Japan to work remotely. Despite a rough welcome, he tries to win the townspeople over with his inherent positivity and initiative.
Fame screenwriter and northeastern Japan native Kankuro Kudo pays tribute to the resilience of his hometown in this earnest comedy-drama. Drawing from his interactions with victims of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami as a documentary filmmaker, Yoshiyuki Kishi authentically captures the northeasterners’ way of life, particularly their ability to find joy from the everyday even in rough times.
